Statement of Faith for DO WHAT JESUS DID, INC.

The Bible

The Bible is the inspired, infallible, eternal Word of God. The 66 books of the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments are God-breathed. It is the ultimate authority, and it is useful for instruction, correction, rebuke, and training in righteousness. We measure, judge, and examine all matters by His Word.
2 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 4:12, 1 Peter 1:23-25, 2 Peter 1:19-21

The Trinity

The Trinity is One God revealed in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 3:16-17, John 17, John 10:30-38, John 14:9-11

Apart From God

Apart from God, mankind, in his natural state, is a sinner (a breaker of God’s laws), lost, undone, without hope, and without God.
Romans 3:19-23, Galatians 3:22, Ephesians 2:1-2,12

In Jesus

Jesus is God come in the flesh and that He lived on earth as both divine and human, no more than man, no less than God, is Eternal from the beginning, is the Son of God, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the ultimate sacrifice for sin, shed His blood for the remission (payment of a debt) of sin, through Him we have imputed righteousness with the Father, that He was buried in a tomb and had a physical bodily resurrection 3 days later, after resurrection appeared to many witnesses, ascended into heaven and is preparing a place for His people, currently sits at the right hand of the Father, interceding for His people, that He will have a physical bodily return to earth for His church who will be caught up to meet Him in the air, furthermore, He will establish His Kingdom, judge the world, and will establish a new heaven and new earth.
Luke 1:26-38, Acts 2:36, Acts 3:14-15, Philippians 2:5-11, John 1:1-18, John 3:16, John 20:1-31, Matthew 1: 22-23, Isaiah 7:14, John 19:28-30, Acts 4:12, Romans 4:1-9, Romans 5:1-11, Ephesians 1:3-15, Luke 24:36-53, John 14:1-6, Romans 8:34, Acts 1:10-11, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10, James 5:8, Revelation 1:7, Hebrews 4:15, Revelation 19-21, Mark 16:14-20

Salvation

Salvation is found in none or nothing, other than faith in Jesus. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no one can come to the Father except through Him. The terms of salvation are repentance (change of mind, a turning away from) of ones’ sin (acts of breaking God’s laws), and a turning toward God in a personal, heartfelt faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, which results in the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and regeneration of the person. Salvation is entirely by the grace of our Lord and not of works. Works can not produce, entitle or earn one’s salvation, but are the “fruit” of the believer’s salvation.
John 14:6, Acts 3:19-20, Romans 4:1-5, Romans 5:1, Ephesians 2:8-10, John 3:16, Acts 4:12

The Church

The Church is a body of believers who have been baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; who are under-recognized, delegated authorities; and who assemble to worship, carry forth the Great Commission, and minister as the Holy Spirit leads.
Matthew 16:18-19, Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 2:40-47, Ephesians 5:22-32, 1 Timothy 3:15

Ordinances of the Church

The two ordinances of the Church are water baptism and communion.
• Water Baptism: We believe in “Believer’s Baptism”, one’s decision of accountability as a believer in Jesus by the immersion of water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is an act of obedience of the believer, a symbol of and identification with Jesus Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.
Matthew 3:15-17, Matthew 28:19, 20, Acts 2:38-41, Romans 6:1-4
• Communion: “The Lord’s Supper”. The cup is representative of His blood that was shed, for there mission (forgiveness or pardon, the release of a debt) of sin (breaking of God’s laws). The bread is representative of His body that was beaten and broken for our healing. Therefore, we partake in communion as a memorial of the death, resurrection, and Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(Luke 22:13-20)

In the World, But Not of It

Believers should seek, as the early disciples did, to practice the separated life from the world and live a life unto Christ and to set standards of conduct which will exalt our Lord and His Church. “Saints” in the scriptures translate “set apart ones”.
Romans 12:1-3, 2 Corinthians 6:17, Galatians 6:14, Ephesians 5:8-11, Colossians 3:17, John
17:14-19

Eternity

Scripture clearly sets forth the doctrines of eternal punishment for “the lost” (those who refuse to turn from the acts of breaking God’s laws and come to a personal faith in Jesus) and eternal bliss in the presence of God for “the saved” (those who have tuned from the acts of breaking of God’s laws, have asked for forgiveness and now place their faith in Jesus Christ). For the lost, Hell is a physical eternal place of torment separation from God and Heaven for the saved.
Matthew 25:34, 41, 46, Luke 16:19-31, John 14:1-3, Revelation 20:11-15

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity whose purpose in the redemption of man is to convict men of sin, regenerate the repentant believer, guide the believer into ALL truth, indwell and give gifts to believers as He wills that they may minister as Christ would to mankind. We believe that the manifestations of the Holy Spirit recorded in 1 Corinthians 12:8-11 should operate in the present-day churches which yield to the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, for power and witness, is for all believers as promised by John the Baptist and Jesus and Peter, was witnessed by the early disciples of Christ, and is evidenced by many present-day disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 11:13, John 7:37-39, John 14:16-17, John 16:7-14, Acts 2:39-48, Matthew 3:11, Acts 1:4-
5,8, Acts 2:39-48, Acts 2:4, Acts 10:44-47, Acts 19:1-6

Healing

We believe that God heals people today through prayers of faith and through the laying on of hands. Therefore, we encourage all believers to pray for those who are sick in spirit, mind, soul, or body. Such healings are promised in the scriptures, although the scriptures neither state nor imply that everyone will be healed. Nevertheless, we believe that scripture instructs that our expectation should be to see sickness healed by the power of God in response to our prayers.
James 5:14-16, 1 Corinthians 12:9, Mark 16:15-18, John 14:12, John 9:1-5, 2 Corinthians 12:7-9

Elders and Leadership

The Head of each church (and the collective body of Christ) is Jesus, whose work is overseen by elders and overseers and those gifted with leadership. When it is deemed best for the life of the Church and testimony of the Lord, these authorities may discipline, in the spirit of love, any member who departs from the doctrines set forth in the Holy Scriptures (the Bible, Word of God) or whose conduct is contrary to the spirit and practice of this Body.
Colossians 1:8, Acts 14:23, Galatians 6:1, 1 Timothy 3

The Great Commission

God has given the church a great commission to proclaim the Gospel of the Kingdom to all nations and make disciples (Christ followers) to extend, expand and advance the Kingdom of God on earth and so that there might be a great multitude from every nation, tribe, ethnic group, and language group who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Matthew 28:18-20, Revelation 5:9

Stewardship

All we own belongs to God; therefore, we are stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us. Every Christian is obligated to support his local church with his time, talent and treasure. We believe that God has established the tithe as a basis for giving, but that every Christian should also give other offerings sacrificially and cheerfully to the support of the church, the relief of thosein need, and the spread of the Gospel.
Malachi 3:8, 2 Corinthians 8 & 9

Ordained Officers

Ordained officers of the Church are apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, teacher, which is referred to as the “five-fold ministry”. These offices are given to the church to equip the saints to do the work of the ministry. Additionally, we believe that there is a place in the Body of Christ for elders and deacons.
Ephesians 4:11, 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1:5-9

Please Note: This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. We believe the Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe. We do believe, however, that the foregoing statements accurately represent the teaching of the Bible and are the basis of our gathering and assembling as Christian believers.
